The reality of the entire situation is that some fucking failed abortions went into full autistic rage about the dexcut and began seething all over 4chan, reddit, and twitter which caused the internet to go into hivemind mode and nitpick every inconsequential thing. now that the games are out, have been played, and are fun, they are in damage control mode or doubling down on an extra dose of retardation with strawmanning and goalpost moving.
the games are not perfect, but they are pretty good, just like every pokemon game
