It's called a Zigzagoon. Because it zigzags, and its zigzag pattern fur. Galarian Zigzagoon is just a base Zigzagoon with a shitty one-off gimmick. It makes no fucking sense as the base state! If that were the case, they'd be named something completely fucking different, like a Rockoon or something.
Fuck, if there's one thing that rustles my jimmies more than anything, it's when the shitty new form of something tries to make itself seem more important by tastelessly retconning its superior predecessor, without giving a fuck about what whether it makes sense or impacts the precursor negatively.
I'm seething so hard right now. I don't give a pickled rat's ass if the next Pokemon games are the greatest ever released and fix every single problem the series has ever had. Unless those games are accompanied by the creators of this absolute disgrace apologizing on their fucking knees, I don't want anything to do with it. This travesty will not be forgotten.
