Why did Let's Go do so "poorly"? I mean, there seemed to be people who genuinely thought it being 'GO and Kanto' meant it'd do better than Sword/Shield.

For a mainline Pokémon it did, for a non-mainline Pokémon it didn't.

Problem is, people here keep changing if Let's Go is mainline or not given what's most convenient at any given moment, i.e., in 2018, people on /vp/ were saying it is a mainline game and said its sales in comparison to Sun/Moon, X/Y, etc. were poor, whereas in 2019 suddenly it's not if you want to compare Sword/Shield's sales to it.
