What is the lore explanation of dynamax? I haven't seen any NPCs talk about it yet outside of it being mysterious.

A long time ago Eternatus was broken and a lot of shards of him scattered around the region. These shards allow Pokemon to tap into his energy and use Dynamax. The forms themselves are energy projections and the Pokemon themselves are not physically larger though they can be physically touched.

i can't tell if this is cool for it's creativity, or retarded for it's pointlessness. Why not just have them grow xbox hueg and mutate a bit?

So..the 'real' pokemon is like stood at the bottom of the thing? can it walk away and act separately? Or do they float in the middle and almost wear it like a hologram suit?

It isn't creative, they legit ripped off Naruto man. Also presumably the real Pokemon is floating in the middle of it somewhere. Whether it's moving too is unknown.

Eternatus is the living embodiment of a black hole and is constantly giving out and taking in immense amounts of energy to the point it warps space and time. This manifests in the form of Pokemon being able to project themselves over a larger space in certain locations.
