Anyone else always experience the same feeling? What is it about Fortree in particular? The fact it's sandwiched inbetween two long rainy routes? The knowledge that the Water Segment isn't far off? The satisfaction of looping around west Hoenn at your leisure giving way to a very linear section?

Anyone else feel the same?

The entire second half of Hoenn is a slog desu, shame because it starts out probably the strongest of any region.
The land/water duality theme was a dumb idea when you give the land areas a desert, a volcano, a forest, and a bunch of unique cities and routes, while the water routes get wingulls, tentacools, wingulls, tentacools and wingulls. Diving was cool but it's really too little too late and still doesn't give the water even close to the variety the land half had.

tldr Team Magma was right

For me its Lilycove. That's when your land routes stop and its just a slog of neverending samey Magma/Aqua encounters.

Every time I beat Morty on HGSS/GSC I lose interest. Then when I pull through the Radio Tower takes me out.

Probably because the level curve shits the bed and you're fighting lvl 18 Rattatas and Zubats with a lvl 20-28 team until after your 7th badge

I feel the exact opposite. I see the stretch between surfing out of Mauville and arriving in Lilycove as the absolute highlight of the campaign, possibly one of my favorite stretches in any Pokemon game. You've got long stretches where the player is free to explore, a bunch of new Pokemon introduced, a Team Magma/Aqua plot to foil, a gym battle in an unusual location, and the rain really adds atmosphere. Hell, you've even got Registeel's sealed off cave adding a sense of mystery to the whole experience and hinting at secrets to come. I think it's a prime example of what makes (made) Pokemon games so fun.

I sympathize with you, though, because I do sometimes lose steam when I get to the water section that immediately follows it.
