You could still obtain the Pokemon outside Hoenn’s regional, and this was touched upon in FRLG
No one hates SS for being “different”, Game Freak outright lies about the direction they’re taking and we’ve been getting less and less new additions to the series, while old additions are removed

Colosseum/XD and the FRLG remakes were meant to gap the full pokedex. Because Ruby ad sapphire introduced the national dex, so fuck of and stop being retarded.

Because there was an understandable hardware limitation with the lack of gbc/gba compatibility.
Plus the pre-gen3 pokemon were still coded into the game, and they were eventually made available with Colosseum/XD and FRLG.
