I send in Slappy as Yamask sleeps.
I get one Stockpile in.
Next turn, Yamask wakes up and uses Brutal Swing and Slappy Stockpiles a second time.
This repeats again, and Slappy is now maxed out on Stockpiles.
Another Brutal swing does almost nothing, and Payback slays Yamask, giving Slappy Wandering Spirit.

The next two turns are Slash and Payback trades, with Mimikyu falling victim to Slappy.

Gengar uses Max Darkness, and does almost no damage, and Slappy hits back hard with Max Darkness herself. Curse does extra damage.
Gengar tries another Max Darkness, but Slappy's Darkness is superior and Gengar falls to the squirrel.

So after evading literally every trainer aside from a single double Battle, my team was perfectly on par with Piers' team! Froighte leveled up after taking down the last pokemon.

Got my first badge. Doduo was defeated by Clint, but put in the red zone in the process. I switched into Jerry expecting a Solar Beam, but got hit with an Aerial Ace. Luckily, my first Ember burns, and I stall the thing until Ember crits. Tackle from Pidgeotto leaves Jerry at 2 HP. I switch into Carlo, who sweeps with T-Shock.

Just beat the first 2 gyms in Black 2. And damn, my mom's literal Pigeon is such a beast. It crits every other turn and gets roost super early, I never thought I would like this Pokemon so much.
Speaking of crits, I've lost a Patrat and a Magby to random ass crits already. I don't know if this game has an increased crit rate or not but I've seen about 40 crits already, and I haven't done any grinding or anything either.

I think the best bet is with random encounters. Overworld encounters are tough to dk nuzlockes with since you can effectively just choose what pokemon you want.

Regardless, I did win. Time to complete the dex as far as I can, trade in the rest from a non-nuzlocke FR game, then start the next game. What game should I do next though? I guess either SS or OR? You can definitely rebuild from this. You can now get an Electric type from the Power Plant, which is an amazing type in Kanto, as well as a load of potential Water types from surfing, fishing, or places like Seafoam or even Cinnabar's fossil.

In my X run, I just revived Tyrunt and he's fucking Adamant nature. I've had Aurorus live but never Tyrantrum, so I'm going to try to take him to the end. I do really need to get a good Fighting counter though, or Korrina's double Lucario fight is going to absolutely wreck me. I'm hoping Route 10 gives me either Hawlucha or Golett. I don't even need to train the Golett, since her double Lucario can't touch Ghosts. We'll see.

Twitch and YouTube are both straight forward to my knowledge. Depends on what your'e trying to do. If you try to be an edgelord and/or swear a lot most platforms will ban you, although I think YouTube is the most lax (with a focus on taking your revenue away rather than just banning/deleting). Like the other non said, if you try to actually get found to become big or whatever you're SoL; it's extremely saturated. You're much better off focusing on getting a name for yourself some other way and only then trying to get people to watch your stream. Examples are making YouTube videos of some sort, making it to the top of some kind of leaderboard, or anything else where your name can get out there and possibly where you can shill your stream.
If you're just aiming to show things to friends or a small in-group Twitch is probably simplest but YouTube a bit more feature-rich.

Assuming you burn through somewhere around 500 encounters, you also have a ~6% chance of seeing a shiny during this. The rate at which you could catch said shiny would probably be abysmal.

this is actually a good rule, never really thought of it. Nuzlock'ing is pretty straight forward just as much as any other game, it just so happens the bulk of your catches will be in the wild area now.
Theres also the fact that you can pick and choose which mons you want now due to overworld models (like unless you get unlucky and accidentally run into a rustling patch of grass/a different mon)
Anyway I started a Shield nuzlocke but I quickly realized how little I actually want to replay this game

Haven't played Sw/Sh but seen gameplay of it. Honestly, it doesn't look that much different in flexibility from normal games, just easier to achieve. Normal games you can heavily influence your catch in each route (with more certainty the longer the game goes on) through the Dupes clause, use of repels and watching your first mon's level, careful planning of optional areas/encounters with consideration of the Dupes clause, using specific rods (good instead of super to avoid one mon or increase odds of desired one), etc.
A simple example is Mt. Moon in Yellow. If you're clever with Repel, you can guarantee the only encounter you're eligible for is Sandshrew, which is normally only a 4% encounter rate. If you want a Clefairy instead, you can also force that.
However, knowing those things and/or looking them up and mapping it out is kind of a pain, so you can get similar results by just picking the overworld sprite you like. Or, if you want to go after the random aspect rather than the planning one, you can go for only the hidden encounters or just wonder trade. Randomizers are nice for that too.

Also I have no Fighting resist until Braixen evolves, which is a real bottomer. I've not encountered a single Fairy and barely anything else. Also Braixen is absolutely fucking ass, the level up movepool is probably the worst I've ever seen for a Fire type starter. It gets better later but damn.

I need to repair the mistake, so I send Magilla in, with him getting crunched on the way,
He sets up Grassy Terrain, and Mawile scores a Crunch Crit that also drops Magilla's Defense.
I send in Selphie on another Crunch.
Mawile Crunches once again(those jaws must be getting sore by now), and Flame Charge takes it out. Leftovers+Grassy Terrain makes for nice healing.

This has to be the worst Roggenrola I've ever seen. It's timid boosting it's speed to a whopping 14 while gutting it's attack, and it also seems to have it's best IVs in Sp. Atk.
I was going to box it but I just feel so bad for the poor thing that I decided to use it, and it seemingly gets nothing but 4-5s on rock blast and crits pretty frequently too. I fucking love this bastard, it seems like he's trying his hardest even though he's built like a special sweeper.
Speaking of rock blasts, I also lost my Trubbish to some dumbass Roggenrolla throwing out a 5x rock blast with the first hit critting. RIP Marnie.

I hope I'm jinxing it but this game nosedives in difficulty after the nightmarish Totem Araquanid. Admittedly I've been exceptionally lucky with this run, both in my first encounters and even finding a shiny. If I can make it to the endgame I should be unstoppable with stuff like Gengar/Gyarados/Salamence/Metagross.

If you're doing random runs with no overarching ties, dupes clause applies game to game (I.E. use an Alakazam whenever the fuck you want lmao). If you're stringing together runs in an overall sequence, however, there is a Champs clause that says mons in the Hall of Fame are unavailable for future games (regardless of whether or not they survive is up to the player) barring future Regional Formes or CrossEvos.

Starters are either chosen randomly or by elimination due to Champs Clause. Or you randomize/inject them in due to a special rule you've cribbed from another anon or formulated yourself.

No idea what to do with the Wilds.

No legends barring certain randomized runs.

Your priority should be keeping Mudsdale and Grimer alive. Muk-A is the single best option I've thought of for going mano-a-mano with Necrozma that doesn't involve Zoroark cheese or Toxic stalling. Alola is also full of strong physical attackers, so Stamina Mudsdale is key to stopping them. They're your defensive core. I'm not sure how to deal with overworld encounters, I think I will roll first 1 or 2 for set encounter or random encounter and if I get a set encounter I will roll a number between 1 and 100 and choose a pokemon based on the probability distribution. If I get random then it's already random.

Plus sometimes it can be a bit cheap, like intentionally not getting encounters at the Lake of Rage so you can get a free Gyarados. I usually just don't count them as encounters.

I used Beelzebub to get rid of the first two pokemon he sent out, then switched to Siren to set up Rain Dance and get rid of his Rapidash. After that, I used confuse ray and surf.

It kind of sucks how in Kalos you barely get the gen 6 Pokemon unless you're really lucky. The whole region's dex distribution feels like a romhack compared to every other.

While that guy is a dumbass Arbok and arguably Hitmonlee are the only "bad" pokemon there. The rest is all heavy hitters. Snorlax and Lapras are two kanto carriers, you can build any team around them, hell you just need them actually and can still solo the league even underleveled (which i did more than once).

The best way to train on Johto imo is just rebattling trainers with the Pokegear.
I would try and see which trainers you have in your Pokegear and are close to the beginning or end of a route so you can leave and call again to set up another match. (For example, Gentleman Alfred in the Olivine Lighthouse can be called for a rematch after just going down the ladder to the first floor.)
Downside to this is you can only battle trainers at certain times, and only on certain days. (Back to Gentlemen Alfred again, he can only be battled on Tuesday, between 10AM and 8PM.) That's just what I would do. One last thing, don't push your Nidobro through a battle if it's disadvantageous.

At the point you get it in the game your harder enemies almost exclusively use pokémon that are Supereffective against it. Namely Dark and Steel

If you'd get it earlier it would be a nice addition, right now it's a good back-up mon

I haven't played past Gen III yet, but I don't really understand why people wouldn't use normal in-game mechanics. My (limited) understanding is that they're just the same as a held item or utilizing typing, so limiting yourself on them seems stupid. If you're looking for more difficulty above a normal Nuzlocke I'd look at limiting healing/items/evolutions or forcing shitmons or something first. Limiting the actual in-combat options seems like you're forcing more of the difficulty into RNG and grinding since you're removing tactical decisions.

I think limiting evolution is dumb as well, but I was throwing out things because at least you can justify it somewhat via the anime.
There definitely are held items that can give huge power boosts though. Charcoal may be relatively weak, but berries can be super powerful (waking you up for Rest if you're limiting healing, healing in general, clearing confusion after Outrage, etc.), and items like Leftovers and Choice Band are absolutely gamechanging. I don't know the stats off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure any given Choice item is going to give a much larger damage boost than a mega evolution.

Better stats, better moves, better abilities and it never runs out. Berrues are defensive items, if you think a lum berry to wake you up after using Rest is more broken than something like mega-gyarados i honestly dont know what to tell you.

You've failed to adequately explain how to me. They seem nearly identical in-battle. If you think Nuzlocke is purely about challenge, I think you're mistaken. It may ruin the fun for you, but plenty of people like stomping the AI once they build up to it. In Gen I Kadabra/Alakazam made the game a joke and can be guaranteed with normal Nuzlocke play. They're not banned, because Nuzlocke is more about creating interesting narratives than making a children's game hard.
Again, if you're overly concerned with difficulty, you're much better off going for something that's both more impactful to your general gameplay AND applicable to all games in the series, like limiting PokeCenter visits or the ability to purchase items.

Different people want different things out of the games. I know when I play something like X and Y, even if I'm doing it as a Nuzlocke and looking for a challenge, I still want to use the big flagship things for the games. In Pearl I had caught a lot of excess Barboach to find the best one (the routes where I caught them didn't hold much interesting anyway so might as well right) and when people noticed the amusing sight of a box filled with Barboach they dared me to use a team of them, and being a person that is easily persuaded to take on dumb challenges I did just that

In Soul Silver I really only needed one Quagsire and an Electrode (not pictured as it died in the process) to beat Red, and the Ursaring to get to Red, so the other Quagsires are just there for style points (and to not use up any mons that I could use in future games)

Cyrus' Houndoom was a fucking piece of shit. He fucked me up hard. Also the Distortion World was a little annoying to get through for the first time.

Sahara just Dug his way through Volkner and his Gym and single-handedly got me the Bacon Badge.

As for the Elite Four, it didn't end up being much trouble but Cynthia was giving me worries. I didn't know exactly how I was going to take down her Garchomp but Atacama ended up being bulky enough that she was able to survive the initial EQ and burned it with Will-O-Wisp. After that it was basically just chip damaging and healing items to get me through it.

With platinum done, I'm now half way through my challenge (14/28), ending with Ultra Moon (I don't have a switch). I'll start Heart Gold sometime this week likely.

Tak then U-Turns into Gnarlyconk(Leftovers), who takes an Icy Wind.

However, it sets up Hail the next turn, making it so Revenge just breaks another Ice Face.
On the third turn, it uses Amnesia instead, and gets annihilated by Revenge.
>G-Max Lapras
Lapras uses G-Max Resonance(setting up Aurora Veil), sending Gnarlyconk into the red, and Revenge does less than I hoped.
I decide to outlast Lapras and send Tak in, but G-Max Resonance does more than I am comfortable with(a bit over half).
Tak is faster though, and Light Screen reduces the damage of the third and final G-Max Resonance into a fairly piddly amount.
With Lapras back to normal, Tak U-Turns to Skylark, who is hit with Icy Wind on the way in(Spd Down),
Ice Beam from Lapras doesn't impress, and Giga Drain does respectable damage even through the veil... which wears off this turn.
Lapras Sings Skylark to sleep, but the very next turn, after another Ice Beam, Giga Drain end the gym battle.

Bait and Switch: The fucking match
Had to resort to hyper potion spam with Shantae vs. Electivire until it ran out of thunder punches, all the while chip-damaging it with Dip's Snow Warning hail and then switch to Byron when it finally started fire punch to finish it off with crunch
Had to do the same thing with Luxray and killed it with Mister E of all things. Thank fuck I went back and got flamethrower
That was a fucking struggle and a half
In later news, I need to drop a move on Byron for Waterfall. Should I drop Crunch or Ice Fang? I'm leaning towards Crunch because I want all the anti-Garchomp coverage I can get if I get to Cynthia, but also like Byron's roll as the designated team ghost-killer.

I started Treeko but released him when I caught my first 3 mons on route 101, 102, and 103.

Getting the first badge was much more difficult than I thought, and required a strategy to get past the otherwise difficult Viridian Forest and Pewter Gym levels. This is because I am using a 'no repeating levels' rule to make this game more difficult. Here's what I developed:
>Must choose Charmander, Blue version
>Complete the gym challenge level before beating the first level
>Send out the gift geodude so you can catch the rattata in oak's lab
>Only level Charmander to level 7
>Catch a caterpie on route 2, this will always be the first encounter
>Only level the caterpie, only have the caterpie and charmander out to minimise XP distribution
>Once it evolves into Butterfree, you can distribute XP as normal
>You should get a second caterpie or a metapod in the viridian forest as the first catch
>Use the butterfree's confusion in conjunction with the caterpie's string shot to beat the Pewter gym

It's not really a nuzlocke, but its still a difficult challenge and I don't want to make a new thread. Essentially I made my own set of rules called TypeLink focused on this autistic method of team-building I once tried where you "link" types together to form a team. I'm currently testing it out on Renegade Platinum. Only deaths have been a Combusken and a Crawdaunt, both lost due to reckless gameplay, and were replaced by Monferno and Totodile, now Infernape and Feraligatr. Now I'm on my way to Hearthome City. There's still some rule tweaking to be done, but I'm enjoying it.

I know most of you probably don't give a shit and everything after I beat Blue was technically not Nuzlocke, but I'm happy because I've filled out the dex before. Not shown is ~6 hours in FireRed to get the mons I couldn't in this game/playthrough.
So what next? OmegaRuby or SoulSilver? Or Emerald or something? Never played any remakes besides FireRed/LeafGreen, but Silver was my first pokemon game and I played the hell out of Ruby and Sapphire.
