Paid online.

People typically want to prepare before they go online in Pokemon even if they do it regularly.

People avoiding online, at least in Wild Area, due to performance issues with it switched on.

I barely touched online so far but once I have an EV-trained team I will.

the stamp system is just shitty. you load stamps in slow intervals, so for example if you're looking for a dynamax raid and there are none, there wont be any showing up in your stamps until the next interval.

you can force the game to load new stamps by doing a wondertrade or trading cards, or by disconnecting and reconnecting to the online.

There's a better way.

Set a battle link code in a random number, then activate search for MULTIBATTLE. It becomes SO much fucking better, it searches for shit all the time. Now I can actualy join dynamax battles before they close down, it's great.

Because there's people that bought both versions who can only play one version at once, people who don't pay for online, people who don't want to connect online because it makes the Wild Area run at 10fps and people who went online once and realized it's shit and get an error 9 out of 10 times when they try to join a random's raid.
Also people are still playing through the games and making teams so Battle Spot will be pretty dead for another week or so.

It's far less than 6 million players.
People buy multiple copies or both versions. Some people purchase it for holidays or birthdays but have not given them to their loved ones yet. Other people bought the game but have not played it yet.

Not so many people have battle ready teams. I suspect most of them will wait until HOME is released to move their 6IV Dittos and their other battle ready mons to the games. After HOME releases the online battling will flourish.

Gen 7 had the same experience anon.

After the first week you could easily go trough multiple "but we couldn't find a partner" type events before finding one and the online here is even shittier then Gen 7.

Pretty sad that even Tetris 99's Invictus mode can still generally find 30 - 60 players in 90 seconds when it requires you to have won in the main battle mode first.
