Stopped there. Love RBY/GSC but god these games come to a screeching halt when you have to deal with team rocket. Silph co. and the radio towers are the worst parts of replaying these games. It's just a boring slog through 30 something rocket grunts and their level 20 shitters at a point in the game you're in the high 30s/low 40s.

Neither Kanto nor Johto are nonlinear. You have to go out of your way to do things out of the intended order.

Both Gen 1 and 2 bring your quest to a halt right after the 7th gym to go deal with Team Rocket.

Silph Co is an actual dungeon which is something sorely lacking in the recent games, and both it and the radio towers can be postponed until the penultimate badge has been acquired, which means it's just the climax of the villain plot like every other game since.

i get what you're trying to say. its technically "gameplay" but those team rocket parts are so fucking boring because there are so many of them and they all have the same shitty pokemon. they are long, slow, boring slogs of the game

I prefer the final boss not having Leer, Tail Whip and only three moves on their Pokemon over fighting the same gym leaders I would have fought anyway at a slightly higher or lower level.

Cerulean definitely. You don't have to go through Mt Moon again. I never even thought of going through Diglett's Cave, except for getting items at the other side of Route 2 and encountering Diglett itself.
