God no, thats way too much effort. It would only happen if it was EXTREMELY limited who could combine. There would probably be only like 6 combos in the game.
It would be neat but its Gamefreak and while I like pokemon games I accept that they are lazy. For now I think fusing will stay an occasional box legendary thing like Necrozma and Kyurem.

Exact impression I got from OP's pic. It'd be hyped to shit for promotional purposes but in the end you'd just get your Aegislash Lucario.

It could be done by a new type of pokeball called a Force Fusion Ball developed by some bad guy. There would be a limited amount of fusion mons as he/she was able to successfully make. The players themselves couldn't make their own new fusions beyond what the Fusion Balls were coded to successfully combine

It could be neat if the fusions made some sense, like if Pidgeot and Pyroar could combine into a griffin-like form, but you just know Game Freak would use it to combine shillmons with other shillmons even when it makes no sense and we'd get shit like Charichu and Lucareevee.

I would prefer crossbreeding, I think Digimon has fusion on a decent lock-down for now. Pokemon already has egg-moves and breeding families, all we really need is just Pokemon models to match cross-bred mons.

That's lore, not gameplay. It's not like you need to do anything special with a Shellder in order to evolve a Slowpoke. Not even Slowking requires you to do anything with Shellder, you just trade it with King's Rock.

Rather than create individual fusions for every possible combination of Pokemon they could do it based on type alone. Create 171 "fusion" Pokemon for every possible type combination, and rather than being based on the individual fusee Pokemon it's based on their types, although the Pokemon used would affect the fusion Pokemon's stats and moves.
