My only gripes with it are the aforementioned lack of difficulty and that the monastery starts to lose its charm and appeal halfway through as it becomes boring and monotonous as there's less to do but at least that part can be automated. There's 3 difficulty levels, normal, hard and maddening (maddening which was recently added in a free update) but there's no middle ground between hard and maddening so the three difficulty levels feel more like brain dead easy, easy and makes an astronomical leap to literally hell. If you've played any of the recent fire emblems, the jump from hard to maddening in this game is the same as comparing normal to lunatic in one of those games

Maddening difficulty is an addition that many have found, well, maddening. If you're good at games I'm sure you'll do well, but that doesn't mean it won't challenge you. Even in other difficulties, there are certain maps that are pretty stacked against you

I never had the patience to beat the early Awakening maps on lunatic and didn't bother fucking around with a guide on where to place Frederick every turn to get to chapter 6 or whenever the preparations chapters start so I can't really say much on it but the enemy skills are consistent and there's no "hope to get insane level ups or else you will insta lose" but your hit rates will be sorta shitty the first chapter or two but combat arts can give you consistent hits when you need them

The gameplay is classic MH but with Hunter arts.
The arts even out some of the bullshit difficulty and are actually cooler than I thought they would be originally.
Overall it's worth the buy in my opinion, especially now that all the DLC is out.

Yeah, it's one of those MH games where they stuffed literally everything into it, so the game has an unholy amount of content and a stupid amount of monsters and equipment, for better or worse.
There's also a style system, where you can pick different styles to change how you fight, and special skills you can use when the meters fill.
My younger brother likes the style that gives you a neat counter system.

Odyssey is good, Luigi's Mansion is as >>41487075 explained. Light on gameplay, heavy on charm. It's still really fun to play though, I'm glad I got it. The multiplayer is shit, 1:1 from the 3DS game with nothing to offer past your first clear.
I'm finishing Mutant Mudds, definitely a good run n gun game if you never played it on the 3DS.
I'd recommend Link's Awakening over Luigi's Mansion, the QoL updates made it a lot better than the GB games.

Odyssey is good/great, but the only real complaint is that the game has a bajillion moons to collect and around a third of them are "2+2=4" easy.
Probably a good thing when kids are playing, but it can make it a smidge tedious sometimes.

My switch has been out for repairs for over a month, but, before that, I was playing Mario Maker 2 and Cap'n Toad. They're roughly what you'd expect if you know the first thing about them. If you think you'd be into them, they'll be worthwhile. If not, they won't be. Also planning to get Spla2n when I get my switch back, but, of course, I can't really say if it's worth it.

No. Maddening basically just gives every enemy such high speed that your units will almost always be doubled up on. Also enemies will frequently have Pass and Poison Strikes so you can't really wall them or bottleneck them, and even if you dodge, they'll still hit you after the battle for 20% of your max HP. Overall though it's very predictable and very fun. There's no "oh he proc'd Lethality on me, I guess I got outskilled," there's "oh I positioned my healer wrong, and the enemy was able to pass through my wall and gimp him, I need to pay better attention to the enemy abilities."
