You send some pokemon out for a job for up to a day, but there's also shorter options. The description will say what type they should be.
They get exp and can bring some item or extra money back. They get more exp if their type fits.
I think the most i had was 16k for everyone in the group i sent. it doesn't really feel worth it for a whole day. Also ruins the layout of my boxes constantly.
