>>41489505It's a neat and interesting animal, and it's always interesting to see Pokemon based off of other fictional characters (Girafarig being based off of the Dr. Doolittle character).
It looks like Girafarig was actually a pseudo-gimmick Pokemon, created to show off that they had detailed back sprites for Pokemon now and could use them to show off details that couldn't be seen otherwise (The flying fish Pokemon has this as well), but it seems they wanted to downplay the idea as the game development went on
