Whenever this beast is sent in the opponent is almost always forced to switch out rather than attacking and a misprediction is severely punished by its sheer power and unpredictability.
Think of it as a Genesect with more power and coverage in exchange for a bad defensive typing that really doesn't matter.
It's also not as frail as you think. With Dynamax (another can of worms) it can survive Barraskewda's Aqua Jet after it changed into Zen Mode. Before BD it can survive almost any priority, you need highly niche stuff like Technician LO Hitmontop Mach Punch to KO it.
Part of me is happy because this finally proves that defensive typing doesn't make or break a pokemon if it's designed as an offensive powerhouse, but I'm also sad they went a bit overboard by making it a total upgrade from regular Darm. They culd have made it work with a more reasonable stat spread/movepool/ability combination.
