Congrats, you found literally the only 5 good tracks in the game, nice cherrypicking.
Wild theme is shit.
Trainer theme is shit.
Hop V1 is decent at best.
Hop V2 is shit.
Bede is decent at best.
You might say Gym Leader theme is amazing, but it's shit. The Elite Gym Leader variant is good though.
Team Yell is alright I guess.
Ophelia is shit.
Rose is alright.
Eternatus is shit.
Zacain/Zamazenta (both variants) are shit.

The real issue with Sword and Shield's battle music is the instrumentation. It sounds too artificial, like MIDIs or some shit, especially with the howling in Zacain/Zamazenta's themes. Ichinose needs to start using instruments that actually sound like real instruments, and not this artificial bullshit that makes the soundtrack sound like HD DS music.

I thought the soundtrack was overall way better than SM’s. SM’s saving grace were select few tracks like Gladion’s theme, Team Skull and Guzma’s theme, and the endgame tracks like the Legends, Lusamine, Ultra Necrozma, and Vast Poni Canyon. Other than that, the OST is really bad or just lacking. What the hell even is that Elite Four theme?

Meanwhile all the rival themes, including their remixes sound great. The Gym Leader, Elite Leader, and Champion themes sound great. And all four Legendary themes are amazing.

The Battle Tower theme wasn't even composed by someone at GameFreak, it was composed by some random foreigner that doesn't even work in Pokémon. The gym leader theme would've been good if it didn't have the stupid chant.

Aside from the absolute kino intro, the combination of the Slumbering Weald and Galar Legends theme just makes the song standout more than any other legend theme imo. My favorite legend theme of all time was always VS Solgaleo/Lunala because of the intensity of the track and the instruments used still made it sound a bit alien-like because again, they are Ultra Beasts.

The VS Zacian/Zamazenta theme does the exact same thing immediately with the constant clashing of metal due to Zacian & Zamazenta constantly fighting and training. But when it transitions to the more tea party-esque section of the song, it highlights that these Pokémon you are facing are literal royalty. And the distorted “awoo’s” keep up the feeling of mystery these Pokémon still have about them. It’s really, really good.

And Eternatus’ phase 1 and phase 2 themes are just awesome. It’s not a Ultra Beast, or a space rock that manifested into whatever Deoxys is. It’s a world ending virus abomination monster from beyond and the themes are both intimidating and weird.

Just like the rest of the game, the SWSH battle theme sounds like pokemon but they don't know what the fuck they are doing anymore
