I remember dropping mine while I was playing platinum and completely wrecking the touch screen. It wasn't a new purchase, but I was scared of what my parents were going to say nonetheless so I kept quiet until one day my mum finally asked me why one of the screens was almost completely white. I thought she was going to scold me after I explained to her what had happened, but instead she said it was almost impossible playing with a broken screen and promised me she'd find someone who could fix it... I treated this little pink boy with mad respect ever since I got it back a few months later.

I never got Pokemon on Christmas, I just bought it whenever I wanted to play it. I did get a Glaceon and an Espeon plush some years ago, though.

Mostly got pokemon games either around launch or on my birthday (april) since this was during the time most pokemon games would come out during the spring overseas. But there were a few times I got some pokemon games for christmas.
