I've just realized that level curve in Johto is so awful that I beat 7th gym leader (Pryce) before I was even close to be able to take on either chuck or jasmine. Gf didn't even bother to try to make johto look like separate region don't they?

Everything between Morty & Clair is pretty open-ended. They should have given each of those leaders multiple teams that change depending on how many badges you have.

We have what is essentially reverse-engineered gen 2 source code. We can do whatever we want. It's not even that hard to do a badge count check before loading each leader team. The radio tower would be more difficult for how many random grunts there are, though.

was i the only autistic child who used to grind levels with every pokémon i found? I literally had a team of level 60+ Pokémon before Lance and Level 80-100 before Red.

Fuck no, that shit was borderline impossible. I just missingno'd rare candy, put them in Stadium 2's box, and fed my pokemon up that way when I wanted to go beyond level 60. There is no good spots to grind in GS.

Making elite four from kanto champion, putting new mons in only one or few areas (some requiring backtracking) and giving them 1-5% encounter rate, reserving higher leveled opponents and gym leader as well as evolution stones and decent tms behind post game in other region (despite having big mall already in goldenrod) and having the same evil team, but with way shittier plot doesn't really help johto standout and feel like separate region
