The funny thing is that Megas and Z moves would be balanced pitted against Dynamax.
Megas and Z Moves are typically Offensive in nature, and Dynamaxing is inherently defensive.

if ur in favor of banning dynamax ur absolutely retarded. It adds another layer of meta game to the competitive battle. It’s not like omly your opponent can and only specific mons can, EVERY POKÉMON CAN. it involves 2 step further reads, predictions. The ability to unlock choice is something you need to prepare for. Can’t fake out a dynamax. Knowing when the opponent will DMax and switching to something that can easily deal with it is called skill. DMax is generally one of the best things they’ve added to the competitive scene to make it even deeper

you get doubled hp for 3 turns and that's it, it scales back down at the end
meanwhile, it gives you effectively higher offensive stats by buffing your moves and giving offensive buffs on those moves
the only defensive max move is steelspike, the rest give offensive buffs to your mons or defensive debuffs to the enemy
it also breaks through protect stall with ease

Yes, the mechanic literally embodies the definition of centralizing. Megas and z-moves might have been bad at times, but you still had different avenues to secure the W. Both mechanics just heavily accelerated the power creep. With Dyna it literally comes down to: dyna and sweep, dyna later and reverse sweep or bait your opponent into maxing early on and just sweep/stall them out. It's so fucking boring.

Yeah. It's tricky because I think it's almost balanced, and almost adds something interesting, but it's just way too centralizing when it comes to the added things that persist post-dynamax. Literally if it didn't do those two things it would be completely fine and I'd go so far as to say it would be healthy. But as it stands those aspects make it too volatile to take seriously in a competitive format.

But it doesn’t.
It’s either “lmao I just kill half your team with no retaliation” or “lmao you outplayed me, but I now can come back to sweep your team”.
It’s so bad right now that every team runs Gyarados, Hawlucha, Excadrill, Ditto, and Darmanitan-G simply because the only counter play to it is using the Snowballed stats that killed half your team against your opponent with Ditto.

Speaking purely from the Smogon perspective, it will likely need to be banned.

If it isn't, then it will be OU only and banned in every lower tier, similar to how some forms of weather setting have been handles in the past.

Why? This is because Ditto would end up in OU, and therefore be unavailable in the lower tiers. Lacking Ditto makes countering maxed mons largely dependent on either maxing your own, or dedicating move slots to unorthodox sets specifically to stall max turns. That not going to fly, not with any tier counsel nor userbase on suspect, and that's because its barely flying right now in OU with Ditto still around.
