Not at all bogleech at least attempts to give good reasons from a design perspective and realization of concept even if it'll always be subjective. Napace's write-ups are dumb as fuck like bringing up how bad Ivysaur is in brawl or gushing over Charmander because the anime episode was nostalgic.

Bogleech is absolutely based. His animal articles are great, so rare to see any unusual animal stuff that isn't just entry level 'obscure' animals. His monster reviews are cool too and even if I don't share his pokemon taste he can still get me to appreciate design elements I didn't notice before.

Definitely. I'm not ashamed to admit he made me give a lot of Pokemon a second chance. My friend only ever played Pearl and got Sword and their excitement for so many old Pokemon has gotten me to take a second look at so many shitmon I had written off before too. Seeing other people's passion for mons I don't normally care for is really nice

Haven't read Bogleech in years. I loved his website back in highschool/college as I share a lot of his interests. I love more grotesque designs in my Pokemon and I always appreciated his entomology articles he shared. I discovered one of my favorite insects from his website: the epomis beetle. Hardcore stuff. Thanks OP for reminding me bogleech exists.

After a lot of consideration, and the realization that this gen actually had some designs that were right in my wheelhouse (though unfortunately in an otherwise meh game), I've settled on these 6. There were other contenders, but this just "feels right".

Wobbuffet, Volcarona, (Alolan) Muk, Cofagrigus are cemented top 4.

Drifblim and Bisharp fill in the other two slots atm. But I have had Escavalier, Venusaur, Gliscor, Hydreigon, Tyranitar, Farfetch'd up there.

I don't think there's anything to feel bad about for as much as 6-8 has fucked up they've really narrowed in on quality of quantity and provided some of the strongest designs in the series for me. You look at Gen III and it's a whole new game worth of Pokemon but so many are sleepers.

Same. I find it extremely difficult to decide which Pokémon are my absolute favs and which ones I like over others. For instance, I couldn’t tell you what my favorite Poison type is because there are so many good ones that I love like Scolipede, Toxicroak, Garbodor and Salazzle. With that I said, I do have a single, all-time favorite and that’s Gengar.
