DId you guys know there's a 20 minute limit for online matches? Just got done making my team, and was finally excited to get some enjoyment out of this piece of shit game since the ONLY fun there is to be had is online. So I queue up, and get matched against some Japanese guy. I have no idea whether this guy knew what he was doing or was just very pensive with every decision he made, but he got an early KO, and after that, every turn he made sure to run his clock out. Eventually, a dozen or so turns in, I'm at 3 pokemon and he's at 5, but I'm in a good spot because I got two dragon dances off with my Tyranitar, and I'm ready to sweep his team and win. Then I get a message about 60 seconds remaining, he runs the clock and after I KO his toxapex, I lose the match by decision. Are you telling me when they made this piece of shit game, a game with literally 0 (ZERO) enjoyable content outside of online matches (which is by and far the focus of this game), they programmed it such that anyone can just play defensively once they get a one pokemon advantage, run the clock, and just win? I'm done, the game's in the box, switch is in the basement, and I wash my hands of Gamefreak. The only saving grace is that my copy was bought used, but my Stockholm's syndrome is cured.

they should have given each player a bank of time desu if you run out you lose by default

Apparently the same thing happened to Shofu, and now running the timer is getting to be a legitimate strategy for winning, unbelievable, if you want to win, the most reasonable way to go about it is to waste away the minutes of your life.

Timer stall is illegal in vgc, right? How the fuck are people going to ladder when the strategies in online play are so vastly different from tournament play?

>Why yes, I did just see the new shofu video and RUSHED THE FUCK UP TO /vp/ to try to spark outraged. How could you tell?

>>41539884 This might be a novel concept to you, but other people are allowed to talk about the game. Shocking, I know.

What was different about the old games that prevented this?

When every turn can take anywhere from 1 minute to 3 minutes to complete depending on the pokemon's abilities and whether or not 1 or two players dynamax in a turn, this means that any match that would take longer than 10 turns to decide (and that's being generous) run the risk of the timer being an issue, especially in doubles.

This has to be incompetency with a new engine if this wasn't the case in the 3DS games.
