Wait, does this mean that Generation 1-6 games are going to become permanently incompatible with Gen 7+ games? I've been keeping the bulk of my mons on Y, does this mean I have to buy a Bank subscription within the next 2 months and port everything to Gen 7 to try and not lose everything?

I even have an incomplete Leafgreen playthrough I was planning to eventually finish and port the stuff up from. Do I have to do that gigantic multistep process in only two months now?

Why do so many people in this thread think that this means all USUM online features are done, a la DS WFC (ignoring the DNS exploit)? This is just the same thing they did in Gen 6 when Gen 7 came out, the PGL is done for the games, or in this case done forever. You can still talk to fatfucoles in Festival Plaza, you can still wondertrade yungoos en masse, and you can still smash children online with a Mega Salamence.

I've heard people who lose their Pokemon Bank mons after 1 year of inactivity but not all people. So maybe if you've revved up the game after 1 year, then failed to heed the warning of your Pokemon being stored for 1 additional month you may have lost everyone on there if any of you haven't checked.

The people who don't are wrong. It's a common misunderstanding for people to think they're safe, because the screen showing your Pokemon in Bank doesn't update unless you pay your sub. That is to say, people saying "I've never paid it! I put Pokemon in when the game first came out and never once had to pay for them. And they're still there!" Are looking at a page that can't refresh to show them their Pokemon are gone until they pay the money for the service. They are ghosts.
