The only people that would actually stay in a battle after a factor that forces an endless battle are people on the spectrum, because even newbies and children will eventually give up. Besides, funbro and other endless battle violators were extremely rare, really only seen in showderp, and any player that is even remotely competent won't fall for it most of the time. The endless battle clause is nothing more than an ELO hell meme taken too far.

for real though, why get excited for pokemon games when you spend all your time in showdown?
siht's more of a stats simulator than an actual game. with the switch/official online at least it takes into account the activities you do in-game (breeding, hyper training, etc).
i'm new to competitive pokemon, hence my perhaps ignorant thoughts on smogon, but when there is a official ruleset available + online support, why use a third-party ruleset?

It’s just a different format for people who don’t like VGC. However, Smogon involves competitive Pokémon in general so people there also play VGC and various other metas (some of which are completely made up)

I don't like doubles and showdown is very convenient. Granted I only played randoms or the less tryhard formats like little cup/monotype with >friends
