Copperajah has 69 def, the +1 defense from steelspike helps it tank hits a lot better. By comparison, Melmetal has 143 def, so its gmax form is situational.
What Melmetal's gmax is decent against are steels with a SE secondary type like Heatran and Excadrill. But even then, it's not that great.

doesnt matter, you can go back and look as USUM usage stats after one week, they didn't look this congested. it usually takes some time for dominant mons and strategies to emerge, right after releases is typically when the meta is the most volatile as everyone is just figuring and trying stuff out

not to mention with less pokemon to choose from, it's only natural that the meta becomes more heavily focused on the strong mons. less mons = less niche strats/counters = less reasons to pick anything other than cookie cutter

Game's been out for like a week and people are already freaking out about the meta. There are a sizeable number of Pokemon that break the FerroPex core solo (Conkeldurr, G-Rapidash, Dracovish, and Gardavior to name a few) let alone Pokemon that can beat one and G-Darmanitan melts to priority or even fellow faster scarf users. The only thing that is truly broken in the Meta is Giant forms as they let anyone with a lead snowball through. Once they ban that everything should get better.

What priority lol. Almost all good users have been culled and the few that remain are easily covered by team mates. Oh and Darm isn't frail as you think, only *very* strong priority like Iron Fist Conk can KO it.

The G-Max move always shares the same Type as one of the Pokemon's STAB moves, and always deal damage. There are no exceptions. The only difference is a Fighting or Poison-type G-Max move may have less BP because both D-Max and G-Max moves of those types are weaker to compensate for the former's effects of boosting Attack/SpAtk. The point of the G-Max being worse ONLY because they give up the generic Z-Move of their type, and even then it varies on a case by case basis, stands.

dracozolt is a true counter to all three because it has access to taunt in addition to threatening OHKOs on FerroPex. You can use thunderwave on a predicted switch out too if you're afraid of getting set up on. Excadrill is a big problem but it can't switch in safely in fear of being OHKO'd by fire fang.
