>>41553426I can see Sinnoh forms being introduced for a bunch of new Pokémon (especially from Kalos and Alola), but that doesn't solve the problem of people sperging out because they can't trade their Cinderace or Eternatus or Gigantamax Drednaw to Eternal Diamond and Infinite Pearl. You run at a risk of making every new Pokémon irrelevant just a year after they were originally released if you make the Pokédex of a generation entirely self contained. Not to mention the Platinum Pokédex contains only 210 Pokémon, at best this number rises to around 230 if you include postgame legendaries such as Heatran and crossgen evolutions such as Sylveon and Mr. Rime. The Galar metagame barely works out with 400 Pokémon, less than 250 pokemon would be really awful.
