But Misdreavus and Murkrow being in Kanto is egregious and somewhat immersion breaking as there was no way to acquire such monsters in the first set of games. The same could be said for Sneasel.
Really, the way the Pokemon are allotted is kind of lopsided and unfair. Johto, for the most part, gets the bottom of the barrel in terms of Kanto's designs, but some of the best and most captivating Gen 2 monsters are placed over in Kanto so late in the game you won't even be able to get much use out of them before it's over.
Weird design choice that HG/SS somewhat corrects with the Safari Zone but still doesn't really do right. There's no excuse for Morty using the Gastly line exclusively when there was a new Ghost-type introduced in the same Generation.
