Gen V > Gen IV
Gen IV had Diamond/Pearl which are straight up bad, Platinum fixes some stuff but still has the flaws if Sinnoh, and HG/SS are aesthetic, good, have a lot of content, etc but lack difficulty and grinding (to evolve, to train any pokemon you want) is a pain in the ass.
Gen V is only hated by numales that cry because le pikachu isn't in the main story.
