pretty normal for the first weeks of new generation, the meta will get more diverse as people start to develop more strategies to counter the top strategies and to discover new strategies, personally I feel like there are just so many different strong looking strategies that I wouldn't be surprised if this year would be the most diverse and balanced format we have ever seen in VGC. But before saying anything for sure, I would wait and see the results of the first Regional tournament in January.

Doublesmons need to deal with 2 pokemon out at once, so your pokemon needs to have as many good matchups as possible.
In singles a Pokemon with many unfavorable matchups can just switch into something else. This allows you to use more niche options.

Some mons do yeah, but it doesn't outweigh the loss of mons that aren't viable in doubles. Sweepers and dedicated walls are a lot worse in doubles with only a few being really viable.

My wife uses a team with morpeko, centiskorch, g-darm, togekiss, gastrodon and gengar.
She dumps everyone in masterball tiers in doubles, morpeko is stupidly strong. I guess if you build around the meta, like always, you still can win and have a good time
