The G-Max moves are really situational compared to the max moves.

The only ones that are direct upgrades are Gengar (trapping is more useful for Gengar than dropping the opponent's Defense is) and Grimmsnarl (putting the opponent to sleep is better for a physical attacker than dropping their Special Defense)

I think G-Max Alcremie and G-Max Lapras are also fairly useful, as the former can heal itself and it's team members (so it's useful in raids), and the latter can set up aurora veil without hail.
