Gen 8 is Kalos in Gen 7 engine upscaled in HD which is why the game feels like shit

XY/ORAS already couldn't run Triples and Rotation at a stable framerate, nor could SM/USUM with Doubles. They probably couldn't put trainers on the field and do Triples without turning it into a slideshow.

You can see from model size, animations, how battle works and many other asset that Gen 8 and Gen 7 run on the same engine

I am actually impressed from the change between gen 6 and gen 7 the biggest change in the franchise but gen 8 is a copypaste of gen 7 engine

It was pretty obvious from the start the Sun and Moon were Switch game prototypes, the scale and look of the buildings and characters don't fit very well on 3DS and camera angles look weird.If they make a new engine, they'll be working on it now and we'll see it partially complete next year

That's just art direction. When it comes to lightning effects, folliage rendering, draw distance, reflections, shadow quality, Xeno 2 completely blows most Switch games out of the water and on top of that it's filled with wildlife and densely populated cities all running in an open world setup with day and night cycles.

While Xenoblade 2 actually remade the whole thing from scratch for an actual console like Switch
