Nintendo released an accolades video that showed all of the positive scores the game got. Regardless, it was really shitty of the video to just make up a score for a channel that specifically avoids giving scores. Also, while a 4/5 and an 80 are technically the same score, it is undeniable that a 4/5 suggests a much more positive opinion. There's a reason why the video grouped 4/5s with 9/10s while not including any 8/10 reviews

SwSh's is especially pathetic. They couldn't even scrounge up a single perfect score and evidently had to make a decent one up. I think it's much more likely that sales are drastically under projection. Pokemon usually doesn't have trouble pushing 10m units and I can see suits thinking that a hyped-up console game would automatically guarantee them significantly more than a portable release, so they probably expected something like 12m or some bullshit number pulled from an asshole.

The best part is that, accounting for price adjustments, SwSh only brought value equal to 9m handheld units, meaning that by literally any corporate metric, these games bombed hard as fuck.

The main thing that cutting the roster did was force a lot of people to pause and evaluate just what else was in the game to make up for all of the missing models. Both of these are based on having every creature available, you don't even need to transfer, trade a Starter for a Stantler in the GTS and you can have the deer in your team, same with every other non-unique Pokemon
You take that off the table people are going to judge it in the other departments, and in those, Pokemon doesn't hold up at all

the only reason I can think of is that they consider gamexplain such an influential outlet on the particular audience that buys games based on accolade trailers, that they felt they needed to include one. but even then that's foolhardy as someone was bound to fucking notice, especially when gamexplain does not do score based reviews across all videos.
