GF can do models and animation right and 3d has much more potential than 2d, the thing is just that they're absolutely retarded when it comes to prioritisation.
Reusing models is fine, great even, creating practically identical new models every game is a tremendous waste of resources and time, especially when you have perfectly useable models ready to be ported over. They should just reuse all models, maybe tweak them a little bit and then move resources to more important areas.
Cutting pokemon isn't a bad concept. There are too many pokemon to model, animate and balance to the point where its practically impossible to do right by all of them, not to mention that a huge bunch of them are just never used by anyone. However once again, their priorities are just bad. How the fuck did garbodor make it in, but not jigglypuff or abra? Just evaluate what pokemon are used the most and what pokemon are the most popular through in game data and surveys, and then just cut, like, half or more of the pokemon low on that list, then focus on making new ones and fan favorites actually unique. That way you can always point to things being fan decisions, and maybe readd some in later events when demand is great enough. Also you don't need to add, like 100 new pokemon every game.
Now for the animations. Once again prioritisation is off. Pokemon SWSH does have tons of new animations.....in a certain way. You see, most of these new, high quality animations are all in the camp feature, a feature that barely anyone uses regularly, while the fight animations, i.e. what people see every few minutes, are bad. GF needs to focus on fight animations first and foremost, their camp animations are good, but barely seen by anyone.
To sum up GF needs to learn to set priorities
