Its probably some shitmon against your rape machine Pokémon. Also it only boosts your HP I’m pretty sure. A high BP move can only go so far if a mon’s attacking stats are awful

You forgot to mention you were talking about raid battles.
The amount of damage you can do is predetermined before the shields appear. Most five star raids usually get their shield at around 80% hp, then 50% hp.
