With Sword and Shield being considered a low point in the series by quite a few, how do you think fangames like pic related hold up in comparison?

Gen 8 is better than 7, 6 and the first halves of 5 and 4. Its not close.

fangames are made with passion and sincerity - the creators WANT to make something people will love and something that they are proud of creating. gamefreak can force a steaming shit on a plate and people will slurp it up so they don't have to actually try. i really have to wonder if the designers of swsh felt proud of the hallway routes, potentially wide explorable areas reduced to a hallway due to fences and cones and towns with just a pokecenter and a gym...

Even Snakewood and that shit is more unfinished than Gen 8, doesn't even have an ending
But the story and gameplay are far superior

I like Polished Crystal, but the vast majority of fan games suck
poor game design, overcorrecting, adding in new types and shit that are completely unnecessary

Weren't Gamefreak Employees unhappy with Masuda's decisions for LGPE? If so I can't imagine them being happy with having to churn out something as unpolished as SwSh.
