>>41587457You're not wrong that other games got a pass for which SwSh did not, but honestly the simple fact that they went on the record to state that they're going remove Pokémon to work on other things, only to release a game that has many of the same flaws and limitations of the 3DS games, is what got people riled up.
All games past gen V are games that are barely worth a 6/10 on an objective scale but get scores that are 3 points higher just because they're Pokémon. Who would've thought that limiting the thing that causes people to love Pokémon games would piss them off? Pokémon is a mediocre turn-based monster catching RPG that sets itself aside from other games by being almost fully backwards compatible (up to gen III) and allowing use of literally every monster it's ever introduced. Removing the one thing that sets your franchise apart from eg SMT or Digimon or Yo-Kai Watch or whatever is just fucking stupid.
Hindsight is 20/20 but I think that without dexit the games could've had even less content and more flaws and they wouldn't be as heavily criticized.
