You mean without being tied to a regional variant? Probably, with Eevee being given more of a mascot status since Let's Go Eevee there's a chance we may get another Eeveelutions again.

Hopefully now that some evolution methods have been mixed up a bit the "why couldn't they do it before" argument will no longer be a concern, especially for baby Pokémon as we really should get baby stages for Scyther and Kangaskhan already.

Regular Meowth and Yamask are both in the game as in-game trades allowing the ability to get Persian and Cofagrigus in Galar. If moving forward dex limits continue to be a thing regional evolutions of Pokémon in the base game will almost certainly be obtainable through in-game trades in order to keep a complete evolution line in the game.

If it has a regional evolution it'll probably be in an in-game trade. If one Pokémon is available in the base game its entire evolution line as of that game is too.

Those are REGIONAL evolutions. The difference between regional and cross is that REGIONALS are evolutions of alternate forms while CROSS are regular evolutions.

Evolutions to old Pokémon are better in everyday; progressing the concept of the lines, gives us a new (hopefully good) new pokemon and it gives the base form the use of eviolite.

Home isn't a boogeyman fuckwit, they removed the GTS so you can't just trade for an old Pokemon on there. If they remove more trading features, Home will be the only way to get certain species. Paying for it is also the only way to get your own old Pokemon, so you'd have to take someone else's. Since you also eat up GF's shit like chocolate cake, they also don't program in many old Pokemon, meaning whether Home exists or not, your Pokemon will likely not be in a future installment.

It is different because a part of the appeal of cross-Gen was the fact that your old x Pokémon can suddenly evolve now, while regionals are pretty much new Pokémon disguised as old Pokémon and usually lack much of the appeal the original form had in the first place.

The point is that these are pokemon that will never be found in the wild. They'll be stuck as gifts/trades/game corner rewards.

Not sure how you could draw this conclusion when Eevee was given that mascot status at the expense of being able to evolve in that role. They're just gonna keep shoveling gimmicks onto Eevee to try and justify letting people use an NFE pokemon because it's cute like they've been doing with pikachu.
