the logical conclusion of amie/camp. this feature is begging to be fleshed out and fully realised. while in amiecamp you assign roles to your mon - ie lookout, scout, guard, gatherer, healer, hunter, etc. some are better at certain things than others, certain shitmon for example outshine more battleworthy pokemon when used in the right amiecamp role. the tent itself is a visible feature you could upgrade and customise with useful functions of its own. spending the night in camp can restore your team by varying increments if you take the right steps but there are risks too – random events can occur – wild pokemon and trainers can approach your camp. some are tired/hungry/injured/lost, you can help and earn rewards. some pokemon may join you this way. others are out to battle and raid your camp. survival mechanics are implemented. if you have pokemon in the same egg group you may wind up with an egg overnight, similarly wild pokemon may visit and spend a night and you’ll wind up with an egg. you can also connect and camp with friends. camping with a friend is beneficial as you have twice the resources/pokemon power, but there is light competition here too - example if an egg appears the players rock/paper/scissors to decide who takes it. sometimes one of your pokemon may want to leave because it has met a wild friend or senses something important to it in the wild - you have the option to let it go or not. this pokemon could then make small appearances in a number of friends games before deciding to join you again with some new unique move/item/ability earned on its adventure. tamagotchi/nintendog creature care/interaction elements are fully realised with some animal crossing-esque villager connection mechanics combined with survival/reward/training features. rather than be a fully safe cutoff bubble to interact with your pokemon, your pokemon can now interact with you and the world, while you and the world interact with them.

Fuck it, the series is going nowhere anyway so I'll say it: ATB combat. Throw in some more visible stats like accuracy/evasion and make Pokemon weak/strong against types on an individual basis ala Megami Tensei games rather just by type alone.

Single and double battles are only allowed in multiplayer and only unevolved pokemon may participate. In addition the player's age must be verified to be 11 or under.

Give Pokemon terrain types (land, sky, water, with a few special exceptions like levitating) and make battles require Pokemon to match that type. Flying types will do worse in caves, land types won't be able to fight and swim, etc. Naturally this leads to a region with a lot surfing with diving available everywhere (and more to do underwater) as well as fly functioning like the eon flute in ORAS and being used to reach high or secluded areas. Gyms will match terrain types to give the leaders more of an edge.

Crossbred pokemon.

Certain new species of pokémon can be obtained only by crossbreeding two specific different species.

Example:

In the new region there are 100 new mons.

80 of wich can be obtained regularly.

But six of those will generate like 20 other other species when crossbred, depending on their combinations and/or held items.

get rid of everything from SWSH.

They had five years to make a SWSH and they used a lot of that time to fuck off and make garbage like Home and the Let's Go Game. instead force Game Freak to have all of their creative and programming staff and even hire more people to make this game.

HAve game centers and casinos in every regin, espeically Kalos (it needs to b the biggest because Monte Carlo is a French speaking region,with the second biggest being in Uvona because of Atlantic City) with unique gambling and arcade games of all types.

Secret bases are back.

All Pokemon from call generations can be transferred into the new game. Find a way, Gamefreak!

The game will be made for long time fans, with a way to support several difficulty modes,

re: musing on triple battles/fusions –when i'm in doubles i like to pick duos riding each other (eg sirfetchd with dracovish mount) –although i feel this is now getting into tedious levels of unnecessary detail without adding much

Because that's how it works in FFX and many other RPGs, like >>41601953 said, and that's what I'm copying. But also because, assuming your party size is still limited to 6, having 3 on battle and the other 3 ready to swap leads to more team synergy I think.
One thing I didn't mention but is really important: in this triple battle system I'm proposing, all pokemon can attack all other pokemon regardless of positioning, as opposed to only the one in the middle being able to do so. Otherwise, battles would slow down to a crawl because you'd be more focused on swapping pokemon and positions rather than actually battling.

Positionning in battle.
Battles now happen on a field composed of 4 to 6 cases. Think triple battle but with only one pokemon, who can move from one position to another during their turn in addition to an attack. 3 cases are grounded, and attacking works like it does in triple battles (if you're in your right corner you cannot reach the opponent if it's at the other end of the field unless you use a move that makes it possible).
Add one "Airborne" position that only pokemon who can fly can stay in, but moving there keeps you from attacking this turn. The airborn position is unique, because you can attack any of the grounded position, but you can also be attacked from anywhere with the right moves. Pokemon with great jumping abilities (like Hitmonlee or Blaziken) or some moves (like Hi Jump Kick or Sky Uppercut) can allow the pokemon to move there for one turn or attack a Airborne opponent. Abilities too, for example Sniper could be reworked to allow any special attack to hit Pokemon anywhere. If a flying Pokemon uses a physical attack, they are automatically back on the ground in front of the opponent. Most or all Electric attacks can reach airborne opponent, but to balance things out there is no weakness involved.

The main motivation behind all of this is to rework the concept of flight in the series. Flying type is gone, replaced by Wind or whatever. Some Pokemon will just switch, like Tornadus, others who have no connections to wind or whatever the element becomes will just lose it, like Pidgey who becomes Normal.
Instead, flying becomes a new trait, independant of anything else. Levitate is gone. Pidgey, Volcarona, Weezing, they can all go up there without needing to sacrifice a type or an ability slot.

Obviously all of that requires polishing and balancing tweeks, but I think it'd be a cool evolution of the engine. A more natural and important rework of Sky battles (without the awful models, I'm all for battles to return to 2d, preferably hand drawn animated art).

Some things would need to be thought out, mainly how movement works. Maybe it'd be better if you can't move and attack at the same time. Could be that attacking without moving gives you +1 or +2 Priority.
It would make sense for the Speed stat to play a role, but the last thing we need is making it even more centralizing.
Also maybe this whole idea could be extended to Swimming, and field configurations that vary depending on where you are, but that's beyond this pitch.

Fuck it, go the DQ Builders route and do a Minecraft like spin off. Make it narrative based with a combo of pre-designed and randomly generated terrain (towns are human made but the map between them is computer genned, etc.) Battles remain turn based, but you can see mons on your map. You build your own base with stuff like poke-center functions, can assign your mons stuff to do at it, etc.
