>>41607503I'm not the anon you're talking to, but I think I might be able to explain Rose's odd evil-ish moments.
I was curious about how the game's original text compares to the american localization, since we know Treehouse often likes to be more comedic and funny (in particular i wanted to see if the british gags and jokes were all there, and nope they werent, thats all treehouse) so I grabbed the game's NoE translation (which usually takes ALOT less liberties and is in general less jokey and more dry translations) and I ended up face to face with a signiificantly less dodgy and more ideological Rose in it.
https://github.com/CPokemon/swsh-text/blob/master/spanish-story.txtThe NoA translation actualy removed a chunky part of the coversation with Leon, but in the original conversation between him and Leon actualy says "i dont have anything to do with this my only responsibility is to the audience and to make a great game" and Rose flat out tells him "this is bigger than any whim of yours, in 1000 years your beloved audience won't even exist anymore" and in general rants about how people that leave things for tomorrow and that don't prioritize the future are the reason "we lose ourselves to indolence", so in general the original script makes it much clearer Rose was madder at Leon putting the games on the same level of importance as the energy deal than anything, and after you face him in the Power Generator he specifically states that he's sorry that he fucked up the gym challenge for you but he just decided to go ahead even without Leon but things went shout and Eternatus proved more than he cound handle. So again, he's a hasty and ideological person that got pissed at Leon not buying his point and went ahead with his plan but not really evil.
I'm attaching a sample of my translation that I did to show a friend yeterday, there's more parts that differ but I'm kinda busy right now, so if this thread is still up later I can translate and compare them too.
