Sun and Moon were released on November 18, 2016
By December 4, 2016 (17 days) both of them were already topping the Amazon yearly chart (other than gift cards)

I feel like things like the poor word of mouth and massive number of used copies popping up already is really going to take the wind out of Pokémon's sales over the coming months. Black Friday and Christmas will obviously give it a boost but beyond that I think it's going to be very interesting.

That's an excellent question. According to Wayback machine the snapshot was taken when it was 10 AM in the EST timezone, though that means nothing to me since I naturally have no idea of Amazon's shopping trends and variations based on hour.

OP's sample has SM with 5 days more than SwoShi though, including Black Friday in it's numbers, plus seems to feature a deal where SM is going for 33 dollars instead of 40. Guess we will have to wait for BF numbers to see who won.

There are all the signs that it's not doing as well as Sun and Moon in North America.

What we know:
- 2 million in the first weekend (3 days) & Nintendo announcing it was the "highest grossing" for Sword and Shield
- 3.7 million in the second week (10 days) for Sun and Moon

They called it the "highest grossing" so it wasn't the "highest selling". So you have to multiply by $60. For Sun and Moon you have to multiply by $40.

2 million * $60 = $120 million

Thus the hard limit for Sun and Moon is 3 million as 3 million * $40 = $120 million.

With all this information, Sun and Moon are basically confirmed to have sold more than 2 and less than 3 million in the first weekend.

It was 3.7 million by the second week, and we know the games drop anywhere from 60% to 80% in the second week.

2.9 million and a 70% drop = 3.7
2.8 million and a 65% drop = 3.7
2.7 million and a 60% drop = 3.7
etc.
