Nintendo also just completely restarted all work on Metroid Prime 4 and brought in the right dev team after the first iteration didnt live up to their standards. Bit of a better example than Animal Crossing in my opinion and exactly what needs to happen to Pokemon.

Why does Salmon Run require a schedule? Is it server costs, or do they not like it when people play the game they want to instead of how the devs want to?

Kinda hoping that some other studio gets the rights to make their own Pokemon JRPG.

They wouldn't be a part of the "mainline series" of games, but I think it'd be a worthwhile venture. Maybe get the people who made the Mystery Dungeon games to work on it?

Pokémon day new game announcements are only for new generations though. ORAS, USUM, LGPE were all announced around May-June.

It's not likely to happen. Gamefreak has it easy because they "future proofed" the 3DS models so that they could be used for the next generation systems. Anyone else would not likely have access to this so they'd have to make their models from scratch which is a hurdle at 400 Pokemon and a nightmare at the full roster. Spike Chunsoft doesn't have nearly the resources to manage this, Monolith could do it but it's still a lot of work for something that historically speaking would not even match the sales of the mainline games.

You're probably right.

In a hypothetical scenario, in which Nintendo sees Game Freak as a PR disaster, could Nintendo theoretically hand over Game Freak's assets over to another studio? Or would Game Freak have to go bankrupt and bought out by Nintendo first in order for that to happen?

I couldn't tell you that. Gamefreak made the models so I'm assuming they're their property and if what I read is true then GF owns a third of the franchise so it would be a stretch and a huge legal hurdle.

Didn't Gamefreak say that the leakers caused a loss in sales?
That is not going to go well in a lawsuit when they bragged about 6mil game sales in the first week...
Even more so if the people who leaked it weren't under a NDA and got the info from someone else.
