Won't make the story good. You had six years to make this arc worth it and you didn't deliver; and I'm sure you'll fall flat once you're either forced to explain the excuse behind BW's ending or just outright ignore it, because I know deep in my heart that none of your possible explanations will make sense, as it doesn't take too much analysis to understand that said ending was nothing but a dishonest publicity stunt. But hey, bad stories can have positive highlights to them.
