Lucky for you SWSH added a mechanic that allows you to pass moves from one Pokemon to another. Breed up another Ferrothorn with Leech Seed, stick it in with the shiny one, and it'll learn the move as long as it has a free move slot.

Depends on your team comp.

Draco is a wallbreaker, not a sweeper. Even with Scarf, it still gets outsped by every common Scarfer. But if your team needs a bit more speed control then go with scarf

You could, but switching is a core mechanic that has been there since the beginning and obviously doesn't break anything, in fact the opposite is true. Dynamax is a new flashy gimmick that consists in spamming super moves with broken side effects, comparing it to switching is a facetious false equivalence if I have ever seen one.

Here's my team that I've been climbing the ladder with lately. My climb has been slowing so I'm thinking of replacing the bottom two with toxapex and nasty plot hydreigon. I find rotom wash is good but doesn't usually do as well as I'd like and I rarely get a useful willowisp in, and Dracovish is too situational, he's won me some games but he doesn't always make an impact. Hydreigon is for ground-immune offense and toxapex is for a tougher water wall. Thoughts?

Hello. I wanted to learn more about about building and getting into competitive breeding and training, but I am having a really hard time decide which mons are worth using and investing on. So far, by watching some games, VGC seems to be most appealing to me.
I asked this around before and people told me to use a picture related team from Trainer Tower's Rental Team compilation since it was pretty basic and would teach me the ropes. But I have no idea how to use it.

Thanks for the tip, I was struggling to decide what to use, paralysis and burns shit on darm sometimes but not very often. I've been running Zen Mode because it doesn't lock you into a move, you don't have to burn dynamax to unlock from scarf/band and people don't expect it (usually they switch when darm comes out). If I don't feel safe using belly drum, he's still good and will obviously still transform if he's hit. I played with scarf darm for a while but I think he's a wee bit predictable.

You absolutely need to run Substitute if you want to run zen mode darm, especially if you have 4 fire weaks, Ditto is on like 35%+ of teams or more because of dynamax right now. Also scarf Darmanitan is "predictable" but what are they reasonably going to do about it? It's hard to stop it doing it's job.

This. Fake Out mindgames are at a whole new level and gives a new dimension to weather wars and terrain wars. Where switching in and carrying a weather move as bsckup was the most big brain your weather setting gameplay could be, this gives many mons setting and counter setting abilities.
Im thinking of testing Cloud 9 Drampa just to see if it can impact the meta at all.

I've been brainstorming like fuck to get started on cartridge doubles to prepare for VGC. I'm currently debating on these two teams. I know it's not a great Pokemon and that both Fake Out and Encore are cucked by Dynamax, but Mime has some really fun options this gen.
I'm thinking Fake Out, Encore, Icy Wind and Freeze-Dry with no special attack investment.

I also bred a Modest one for Mr. Rime but it's such a dire Pokemon I have no idea what to run on it

So old scrafty ran Intimidate more often than not but moxie and shed skin could also be situational helpful dependinf on how you build. Pick at least one fighting move

The box legendaries are fucking stupid good it seems, and Strength Sap on Cursola can just be an auto-loss depending on your team.
Other than that nothing has struck me as particularly overwhelming consistently, although Gigantamax Charizard (and a few other Dynamax/Gigantamaxes, but Charizard strikes me as the most threatening) can easily sweep with no prep if you safely swap them in and the enemy doesn't respond with a counter swap on the next turn. Shell Smashers are also stronk as fuck.

I need some advice.
Last night I caught a Gigantamax Copperajah with Sheer Force that's Adamant with perfect IVs in every stat except decent in HP and Speed (will bottle cap those later). So far I EV trained up its Atk to the maximum. My dilemma is I don't know where to invest the rest of the EVs.

I know some people will say dump the rest in HP, but considering it has a high HP and low defenses is that the appropriate move? For Pokemon like Chansey, its high HP usually means people invest in the defensive stats, so I was wondering if I should follow a path like that.

If you set up a Trick Room for Doubles you don't need 252 on speed and pick band it nukes everything Up, only setup I want to try more than this setup is HA Inteleon@Scope Lens because essentially it gets crit for days for 225% base damage which means a whooping 347 damage STAB attack if it crits

It's immune to ground, neutral to rocks, and has iron defense/bulk up to absolutely wall the mole, along with Roost. Quagsire can also serve a similar role.

Another option that would work is a jolly choice scarf Huge Power Diggersby packing fire punch. Most Excadrill aren't banded and can't 1 shot it.

It's ran occasionally on stall teams. But stall is pretty dead with Dynamax as it is right now. Safeguard is pretty bad because they can just not use the ability before hand. Aromatherapy is still kind of a shit move because you're not accomplishing much with it, but on top of that there's not really any mon that can learn it you'd want to have it.
Heal Bell is slightly better because you can throw it on Umbreon and Lapras, but eh.
Generally speaking if you're going aggressive you can just use a different mon to try to setup, if you're stall/defensive then it's not that hampering, and if you're balanced you probably have a better use for the turn.

Plenty of UU Pokemon have viability in OU still. Plus Galar Darmanitan, one of Appletun's biggest threats, is almost certainly going to get banned so that should improve its viability quite a bit and might be enough to keep it OU.

You don't have any fighting moves, your one ground move isn't STAB, no grass moves, in general your coverage kinda sucks. I think this mostly comes from Ribombee not really adding much to the team IMO. I doubt you'll actually set up a couple of quivers on it ever, so it's pretty costly as a sticky web/u-turn thing. In general I don't think you have any clean/visible win condition. You can't stall very well, you have some heavy hitters but can't easily threaten or set them up, and you have no physical wall.
I'm not sure if you have a specific Dynamax strategy in mind, but unless you manage to make excellent use of reflect and light screen it seems like a rough team.

I haven't seen it used in gen 8 at all. It might just be getting overlooked in favour of the new stuff, but even back in Gen 7 Cloyster wasn't really that good. Its special bulk is awful meaning it cant set up on basically any special attacker without having focus sash (which is easily broken by hazards, which cloyster also struggles against as a stealth-rock weak pokemon), and even after a plus 2 boost its relatively slow and gets outsped by fast scarfers or priority. Its movepool isn't very good either, Steel types can easily wall it since they resists its best Skill Link abusing moves (Icicle Spear and Rock Blast) while taking only neutral damage from its non-Skill Link (and thus relatively weak) Water STAB.

Not really an issue in Gen 8, Knock Off is much rarer now and there's no Z-crystrals or Megastones to worry about. The rest of your points still stand, though.
