Stakeout is a great ability that would be a lot more broken on a stronger Pokemon, but it is given solely to early game stuff like this since they don't have the stats to abuse it. Even Unburden is great as Hawlucha demonstrates.

Thievul is intentionally made with low stats because you can get one very early on. RPGs often have a character with relatively high stats in the beginning but has no potential outside of that, so eventually they get outclassed by an early game character that you train up. Thievul is the same way. It is designed to follow that trope. Early game mons are good for the early game, and you are not meant to use them after a certain point?

If it’s HA was released, it wouldnt be as bad as a mixed attacker with stakeout u-turn. It looks weak but whenever something switches into it they’re basically taking a +2 attack.

RN tho only way to make it work is unburden+seed under terrain and hope a nasty plot sweep is even possible.

It's not really forcing anything out though.
Like, mons it may threaten are either faster or bulky enough to retaliate (all pure Psychic types).
I loved it but it's shit, there's objectively no reason to pick it over Liepard.

I did the exact same deal, rocked the whole game with Snarl/Psychic/Nasty Plot. Boxed my starter for this bad boy. He was an absolute pleasure to use.

Honestly it’s the Pokémon like this that are more fun to use ingame, seeing as you’ll be hard-pressed to get use out of them competitively. Might as well smash the AI with one.
