I kind of like that Lugia and Ho-oh have fuck all to do with each other or the overall plot in their games, and that they're just there to reward the player for exploring.

Every legendary post Gen 2 is contrived Saturday morning cartoon bullshit. Legendaries should play little part in the overarching story and should be vague, powerful, mysterious, and only loosely connected or connected at all. They should not be yin-yang rivals or pseudo-gods that control the natural order.

Zacian and Zamazenta look like they're just powerful pokemon that don't have god-like powers or are all over yin-yang rivalry. They still play some parts in SWSH story, but they have to show their heroic roles I guess.

I enjoyed the epic of Grodoun and Kyogre the most. Because it was world changing.

I enjoyed the story aspect of Reshiram and Zekrom.

But the best legends were Ho-oh and Lugia only because they weren't related to the story. They weren't the main aspect of the story. They were just there. Nobody was trying to resurrect them, it was just an evil team being evil and the legends that you learn along the way.
I don't mind saving the world, but I'd like the adventure of just discovering secrets every now and then.

Johto and Galar are my favorite. I prefer legendaries who are ultimately just really strong, rare Pokémon, over ones fill cosmic-deity roles. I don’t like the idea of owning a Pokémon that controls the fabric of reality or created the continents.

I want to like Reshiram and Zekrom, but the idea of them being two halves of what was once a single dragon seems silly to me. But if that’s just a metaphor for something more natural, like them being siblings, I can settle for that.

But they are related, Lugia was the original inhabitant of the Brass Tower before it burned down, and he went into self exile.

On that note, I like how Lugia has lore and legends completely separate from the Tower and Ho-Oh, how he "eats children" and lurks on the ocean floor. It makes it feel so much interesting and real, how multiple legends and belief spring up that are contradictory. The only other legend to do this was Kyurem.

Gen 2 and 6 had the worst legendary lore. Only saving grace was that Lugia looked cool and had an awesome movie tied to it. Ho-Oh was massively wasted potential in both the games and the anime. It's only saving grace is that HeartGold and SoulSilver gave it an awesome theme song.

I also like the detail of the brass tower burning down because of a lightning strike in a rainstorm.

Really implies that this is why Lugia went into hiding- because its power accidentally creates storms that cause unwanted destruction.

Even moreso when you factor in the three Pokemon that died and were resurrected, looking at it at that angle it makes sense why Lugia flew off.

Side note, nothing blew my mind more than realizing
