Of course, if you're going to start a team from zero you won't be grinding everything when you could either breed the nature and ability (maybe also IVs if you got it) or catch something with the right nature+ability, since you can synchronize for the former and get a 50/50 chance on the latter, and then patch up the rest.
It's also much less mentally draining/has a shorter learning process since you don't really need to know any secret mechanics beyond where to get bottlecaps, mints and ability capsules.
What ennervated me about breeding the most was not running in circles for hours on end (which was stupid and pointless, as is grinding to 100) but having to constantly check recipes and notes so I don't gorget a key step or held item. Too many variables to control with too few parameters under a single system.
But if you're starting a party from scratch, you're probably already playing ranked and earning BP.
I don't know why GF is so dead set on wasting our time though, be it through meticulous lottery manipulation or pointless grinding. But these things are at least more straightforward than the convoluted mess that is breeding.
