Gamefreak is SO fucking bad at managing their own franchise.
I've seen countless istances of movie/videogame/comic series falling under different management, getting rebooted and garnering criticism from old fans for disrespecting their source material. Pokemon has been developed by the same studio for more than 20 years yet this same shit happens every single time a new game is released ever since ORAS.

Orbeetle is actually a really solid lead mon. I use it as my sticky web setter. At first I was giving it focus sash because I wasnt sure about its bulk. But man, can that thing take a hit! A focus sash is pointless on it.

That's how you can tell this shit was intentional. They had to make sure Ledian was shit on in every conceivable way so that no one would ever consider, even for a moment, using it over their precious new Orbeetle.
Don't get me wrong; Orbeetle is one of my favorite new lines. Just pointing out the pricks that apparently work at Gamefreak.
