I'm so confused by this feature. I thought maybe eventually making good enough curry would give you ways to instantly boost EVs or something, but no matter how well you made it it's just free heals + friendship a minuscule amount of exp. I really thought Camp was supposed to not just replace Refresh, but Pelago. It's barely anything.

I like the camp and curry. Curry a bit less, but was good to use for heals when I was in the wild. It's not really pointless. It's just basically taking the pokeblocks, puffs, ect and letting you make and feed your pokemon with it

Throw Amie and its clones into the "useless feature devs spent way too much time and effort on" pile. All the effort wasted on doing animations for Amie, Refresh and Camp could've been spent on making battles not look like shit or other areas of the game.

A waste of time, animation and resources that could've been spent on less retarded additions. The multiplayer and over world are so poorly implemented that you can tell this garbage was rushed.

Irrelevant. Battling is the main focus of the game, and should be given the top priority for effort and have the highest quantity and nauance of features. The older games understood this, and most of the time and resources were allocated to making the battle system not only functional and cohesive, but appealing to the eye and puzzling to the mind, receiving the most impressive visuals and in-depth mechanics. It was Gen 6 that started the trend of super in-depth side features, and this inevitably had to sideline the gameplay. Reminder that every single flying and levitating poke had to be reanimated to be flying in place exclusively for Sky Battles, a useless feature that was discarded in the very next game, yet the terrible animations linger to this day. Contests, walking pokes, pokeathelon, making poffins, whatever that stageplay thing was in BW; these are minor additions that do not effect the core gameplay because of how much manpower they took up, and it is best that it is kept that way.

The Pokemon Dance from BW sure was useless shit but contest required some tactics and pokeathlon had some gameplay, in fact they got lazy with side features since BW (no safari, no walking pokes, contest reduced to dress up and watch) in gen 6 we had some battle side content but you couldn't compare it to the frontier (reverse battle and all those weird things in Luminoise/Mauville) while gen 7 even butchering that into a restaurant battle minigame (mostly done because you couldn't rematch trainers)

There is little point to this feature outside of obtaining a sylveon.
Once you have your obligatory affection based evolution why would you waste your time cooking a single curry when you get nothing out of it?

Making curry is not particularly fun either when its just a button mashing and a stick rolling like you’re tweaking a nipple.

Camp and Curry aren't bad additions to Pokemon, the problem with them is that GameFreak should be able to add an involved system for interacting with your Pokemon AND a great battle system.
But they can't do both.
Hell, I don't think you can trust them to do just one correctly so in the end it's a moot point.

There’s more to life than battling, and being good at it requires being well-rounded and accumulating other life experiences. At the same time, sometimes there are threats to life and livelihood that you can only overcome by combining brute force and wits.
If GameFreak has a lot of folks burnt out on cockfight simulator volume VIII, then let’s at least use what those folks are good at, rather than have them constantly weighing down the ones who want to make the most amazing cockfight simulator ever.

It’s supposed to be for immersion but like everything else in this game it’s half-assed. If it actually did boost EVs it’d be useful as a way to speed up creating a team but it’s there to satisfy casual players who want a Nintendogs experience.
