>>41670831It's one of those terrible ideas where someone says "let's turn this complex game and translate it 1:1 into a TRPG". So every move in the videogames has an actual different effect with its own stats, effects, range keywords, etc. Every ability, likewise, is statted differently. And there's a lot of "Passives" that each pokemon starts off with, for instance, Mareep has the "Glow" passive, which allows it to light up an area around it (not unlike Flash). Gastly comes with Dead Silent so it makes absolutely zero noise, it comes with Invisibility so it can't be detected by sight, and it levitates off the ground.
Fights are also very short, generally, since damage is sky-high (especially when dealing super effective damage); generally you have about an 80% chance to hit with any given attack move, but the damage you deal is reduced by an enemy's defense or special
defense. So your normal attack round goes like this:
>Accuracy Check: 10 >= 4, hit>Damage Roll: 2d6+10+ATK = 30 damage>Enemy Defense: 10 - 30 = take 20 damageThis is a normal round at level 5.
It's a stupidly crunchy system.
