>>41677941>>41679236It's a mix. The first main series game based on somewhere outside of Japan, with one Westerner (Turner) designing a few pokemon, was Gen 5. Then Game Freak and TPC went into overdrive pandering to Western audiences with Gen 6.
But, Gen 5 definitely still had a Japanese flavor. It was the last generation without a simultaneous international release, with both BW and BW2 being released in Japan several months before the West. It was the last generation where CoroCoro and Sunday were the primary news sources too.
