I've been playing the entire game so far thinking "red was bad and blue meant bonus" and I want to die I have so many mons with shit natures it's not even funny.

To be fair I feel like in most other games, blue means good and red means bad, whereas here it's strangely reversed

Its the fucking japanese, they insist on having their own shit. Everytime I play a japnese ps1 game I have a small moment of rage because circle is confirm and x is cancel, instead of swapped like they are in EVERYWHERE ELSE

Yes, the colors are counterintuitive and make me double check every time. Good thing I learnt the most useful natures by memory before they started adding those colors to stats ingame.

Have you only learned about natures after they started color coding them? Knowing what Modest, jolly, timid and adamant natures do is very basic. That should have made it obvious that you are wrong about the meaning of the color

It's a retarded choice of color, probably based on Japanese tradition. It could already be seen with Plusle and Minum.

This is still a thing in the japanese versions of PS4 games. It makes sense though, the circle is where the A button is on SNES which came before it., and X is generally associated with 'wrong' or 'incorrect'.

I consider red and blue negative personally so every other cultuire is just as shit (lol, as if they all aren't) in that case. Literally never heard of anyone pairing red and blue outside Pokémon before.

Yeah I assumed this a few games back. Red usually means something is amiss, like you have a negative balance or an incompatibility in a game like Armored Core.
I got used to it a bit back though. had to teach myself that Pokemon works backwards.

This is a thing with japanese culture. In Western cultures, the symbols for "right" and "wrong" are usually a green check mark and a red cross. In japan, "right" is a red circle and "wrong" is a blue cross. You can see this in the WarioWare stage in Smash Bros, for instance, and the Playstation controller is designed for cross to be "no" and circle to be "yes"

It comes from our school system, Finland also borrows a lot from Mexican school system but they don't deal with corruption nor Mexicans so their schools are actually good.

T actual Mexican teacher that made his thesis on the last century education reforms, Red being seen as wrong goes a long way here.
