Hop had a decent story but he mostly annoyed me by showing up all the time. The professor girl was also fairly annoying for this same thing. I hated that Hop kept being surprised every single time by me using a super effective move against him. Like, why wouldn't I use that?

Like in Cuphead, you can dive directly into the game, but the tutorial still exists and is still called a tutorial.

A note popping up, explaining you how to use a mechanic, is a tutorial. That's a fact.

The tutorial was on right through to the championship battle. Hop is the physical manifestation of every game's tutorial and he fucking stalks you through the entire game and even into the end game.
